Egypt on brink of making history with World Cup win

Egypt will be seeking to register a first ever win in a World Cup when they face Saudi Arabia in a Group A match encounter Monday evening.

In their first World Cup since 1990, they had been tipped to advance into the knockout rounds after looking strong in the qualifiers. Egypt Star forward Mohamed Salah missed their opening defeat by Uruguay after a shoulder injury and looked short of fitness in their loss to Russia.

This is the first encounter between Saudi Arabia and Egypt at a tournament since the 1999 Confederations Cup where the Saudis won 5-1 on that occasion.

In other matches that will be played, Spain will lock horns with Morocco while Iran and Uruguay clashes with Portugal and hosts Russia respectively.
